Three Forest City residential communities – Blossom Plaza in Los Angeles, One Franklin Town in Philadelphia and Radian in Boston – recently earned ENERGY STAR certification.

"We're honored to earn ENERGY STAR recognition for superior energy performance at these apartment communities and appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in their efficient operation," said David LaRue, Forest City president and chief executive officer. "Saving energy is just one of the ways our associates bring our core values to life and show our residents and local communities that we are committed to their health and well-being."

The certifications follow Forest City's recent ENERGY STAR Charter Tenant Space recognition for the company's corporate headquarters and 2018 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for outstanding efforts in energy management.

As part of Forest City's commitment to our local communities and core values, the company is launching a new volunteer time off (VTO) program that will provide associates with up to eight paid hours a year to volunteer with nonprofit organizations.

The program is currently being piloted in the company's corporate headquarters in Cleveland, and will launch nationwide on January 1, 2019.

"One of the ways our people help bring 'the power of place' to life is through their direct involvement with local nonprofits and participation in impactful volunteering opportunities," said Kristen Grabenstein, manager of Community Relations for Forest City. "We see the introduction of our VTO program as an important next step in supporting our associates and local communities."

With such an incredible story already written, Stapleton is getting ready for the next chapter – it's 12th and final neighborhood: North End.

Representing the last opportunity to buy a brand-new home in Stapleton, North End is located – as its name would suggest – at the northern edge of the community and looks out on the high prairie, giving it a unique feel best described as where "a great city meets the great plains."

"Perhaps the best thing about North End is that it's part of something bigger: a vision that started two decades ago–brought to life by the residents who have so fully embraced it," said John Lehigh, who leads the Stapleton community for Forest City. "The North End neighborhood will stand as a fitting tribute to some of Stapleton's most exciting ideas. And yet, it is something altogether inspired in its own right-- the culmination of everything that we have learned from the last two decades."

It's more than just a steamy summer in New York, as Forest City is on a hot streak with more than half a million square feet in commercial leasing transactions over the last year and a half.

The company recently marked the culmination of new and renewed lease activity totaling 560,000 square feet in 18 months within the New York City metropolitan area, Forest City's largest core market by net operating income.

"The last 18 months of office leasing has been an active period for our New York portfolio, with several companies securing substantially sized office spaces to accommodate new locations and corporate or agency expansion," said Ali Esmaeilzadeh, senior vice president, Asset Management & Leasing, with Forest City. "We hope to remain on pace to execute several new transactions throughout the remainder of 2018 as we continue to amplify our local assets."

The MLB All-Star festivities taking place throughout Washington, D.C’s Capitol Riverfront District will give thoughts of fans the opportunity to experience The Yards, Forest City’s dynamic, mixed-use community within walking distance of Nationals Park.

Forest City has received two separate honors today – June 26 – further establishing the company's credentials as a sustainability leader in the real estate industry.

"The Last Three," an iconic 17-foot-tall bronze sculpture depicting the last three northern white rhinos –-Najin, Fatu & Sudan – created by renowned public artists Gillie and Marc, is on display at MetroTech Commons.

"Forest City is honored to showcase 'The Last Three' at MetroTech Center," said John Bowen, senior vice president, director property management, Forest City New York. "Our partnership with Gillie and Marc reinforces our commitment to the arts and culture, providing a public space for Brooklynites to gather and learn together, and we hope everyone takes advantage to come view the sculpture and enjoy its beauty and playfulness, while also learning about this important cause."

Forest City's 2017 Annual Report is available for download on the Investors section of the company's website.

"Our outstanding financial results In 2017 were the direct result of focused execution of our strategies, and were achieved by Forest City associates working together to drive exceptional performance and service through our organization and across our portfolio of real estate," wrote President and CEO David LaRue and Board Chairman James Ratner in their joint letter to fellow stockholders. "In addition to improvement across all our key performance metrics, our diligent execution allowed us to steadily reduce leverage, improve margins, reduce development risk and raise our dividend twice during the year."

Stan Ross, who served on Forest City's board of directors for nearly two decades, has passed away at age 82.

"Stan Ross was a valued member of the Forest City family for more than two decades and will be missed," said David LaRue, Forest City's president and CEO. "As a member of our board of directors, he served with the highest integrity and brought keen insight, deep real estate knowledge and an ability to reach people on a personal level to the board's work. He was also a great mentor, teacher and leader who always focused on the human side of business and pushed individuals and ideas to their best outcome."

The countless smiling faces tell the story – this year's Community Day was another resounding success!
