The New East Baltimore Community

A partnership between Forest City and a group of prominent minority builders is developing the first phase of this 80-acre mixed-use community, which is adjacent to the world-renowned Johns Hopkins University medical complex. At 31 acres, the first phase is a 10-year, $800-million redevelopment effort.
The Forest City team was selected by East Baltimore Development, Inc., a nonprofit organization charged with leading and managing the revitalization of East Baltimore. Forest City’s local partners include Doracon/Lambda Development, LLC; Legacy–Harrison Enterprises, LLC; Banks Contracting Co., Inc., and The Wilkinson Group, LLC.
With five research and office buildings planned, the new park will serve as an anchor where bioscience companies can draw on the resources of Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland and nearby state and governmental research facilities. The first biotech building, 855 North Wolfe Street, will be anchored by the Institute of Basic Biomedical Sciences of the Hopkins School of Medicine.
The new housing to be built will include a range of affordable and market-rate units, both for-sale and rental.
Property size The 31-acre site will include up to 1.1 million square feet of research and office space, 850 residential units, 50,000 square feet of retail amenities, and three acres of landscaped parks Property location The New East Baltimore Community is directly adjacent to the campus of Johns Hopkins Medicine, about one mile north of the Inner Harbor and historic Fells Point.

Amenities 855 North Wolfe Street will include biology and chemistry labs along with office, meeting and retail accommodations. In addition, the building will connect to other university research facilities via skybridge. |
