A bright future

With sales 50 percent above projections, restaurants experiencing their highest opening volumes ever and over 100,000 estimated visitors, it was an unbelievable grand opening weekend for The Promenade Bolingbrook. And the future is just as bright.

Retailers J.Jill and Circuit City, along with two new dining concepts, are opening soon.

In addition, Forest City is currently developing a 46,000-square-foot LA Fitness, two hotels and a 600,000-square-foot power center adjacent to the site at Interstate 355, south of Boughton Road.

According to Westley, LA Fitness is set for a late fall opening, while one of the hotels, geared towards business travelers, is expected to begin construction in early 2008. Construction on the power center is expected to begin in the summer 2008 with the retail portion opening in the late fall of 2008.

The Promenade Bolingbrook will also see a boost from the new south extension of I-355, set to open in the fall of 2007. The new I-355 corridor will run through 13 suburbs from the I-55 interchange in Bolingbrook to I-80 in New Lenox, Ill.

“Once the extension opens, families that used to have a 90 minute drive to The Promenade can be here in 20 minutes,” Scott said. “So it really opens us up to all of the greater Chicago community.”

With the 2007 Promenade Summer Concerts on the Green and tables in high demand at Gordon Biersch Brewery, Ted’s Montana Grill and the rest of The Promenade’s signature restaurants, it’s going to be a great summer.
