Charles A. Ratner
Charles A. Ratner is chairman of the board of Forest City Realty Trust, Inc.
Ratner served as the company's president and chief executive officer for 16 years. During his tenure as CEO, Ratner guided Forest City on a growth trajectory that saw the Company's real estate assets at cost increase from $2.4 billion to $11.8 billion, earnings before depreciation and taxes from $82 million to $309.9 million, and market capitalization from $330 million to more than $3 billion.
He previously served as Forest City's chief operating officer from 1993 to 1995.
In addition to playing an active role in the leadership of the company, Ratner currently serves on the boards of American Greetings and RPM International.
An active member of the community, Ratner serves on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, The Musical Arts Association and United Way Services. He is on the board of the Jewish Community Federation, a trustee of the Mandel Associated Foundations and David and Inez Myers Foundation.
Ratner is the former chairman of the board of trustees of the Cleveland Foundation, the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland and the United Way.
Ratner graduated from Colgate University and the New York University School of Law. He is married to Ilana Horowitz Ratner. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
