Our Core Value

Sustainability is ingrained in the culture of Forest City Enterprises. It is one of Forest City’s eight Core Values, or philosophies, upon which the company is built. The Core Values serve as a guide for how Forest City conducts business, builds relationships and engages in new opportunities. Forest City’s Core Values represent the principles and ideals that have helped shape the company over its 80-year history, as well as those values that have evolved over time.

Performance Ethic, Integrity and Entrepreneurial Spirit are examples of values that helped shape the company, while values such as Diversity and Sustainability are values that have been adopted more recently.

Sustainability is an important part of how Forest City operates. It is a principle to which Forest City is deeply committed. Forest City strives to balance social systems, environmental resources and economic objectives – the so-called triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.

Forest City’s high-density urban infill projects, adaptive re-use properties and pedestrian-friendly communities are all development types that are inherently sustainable. And they provide a springboard for more integrated, sustainable designs and environments.
