Managing Our Existing Portfolio Forest City actively manages its existing portfolio of assets by:
- Seeking to maintain high occupancy rates, raise rental rates on expiring leases and maintain tight cost controls.
- Reinvesting in selected properties to maintain or increase their value.
- Evaluating opportunities for dispositions, which usually fall into one of two categories – opportunistic or smaller assets in low-growth markets. By actively disposing of selected assets outside our investment criteria, we improve portfolio quality and provide greater opportunity to create value. We also actively monitor market conditions to sell properties where we can realize exceptional value.
We are strongly committed to having a diverse portfolio. Few real estate companies can demonstrate a track record of success like ours in the development of retail centers, office buildings, hotels, multi-family rental residential communities, military housing and land. Many of our properties are known for their aesthetic excellence, distinctive locations, functionality and financial stability - all at the same time, without compromising one attribute for another.
