Military Housing
Forest City Residential Group is proud to own, develop, and operate Military Housing under the Department of Defense’s Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). This Defense Department initiative was enacted in 1996 to provide a solution to an aging inventory of military family housing and the need to build and renovate homes as efficiently and quickly as possible. The MHPI enables the Defense Department to partner with experienced private sector companies to make affordable, quality, private housing available to service members and their families.
Forest City Residential Group’s current military housing portfolio consists of approximately 12,000 homes in Hawaii, Colorado, Washington, Illinois and Tennessee for Navy Region Hawaii, Navy Region Midwest, Navy Region Northwest and the Air Force Academy, under the Navy’s and Air Force's Public-Private Venture (PPV) program.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Forest City Residential Group, Forest City Military Communities focuses solely on developing, managing and maintaining high-quality communities for military members and their families.
Forest City possesses the skill sets that make it the ideal partner for the Defense Department's MHPI:
- A long-term vision, with long-term ownership objectives
- Experience with large, complex projects
- Ability to forge partnerships and share success
- Commitment to our service members and their families
